CHARLES R.ADAMS III

Charles R. Adams III is a partner in the Fort Valley, Georgia firm of Adams & Adams, LLP, where he bases a statewide torts practice concentrating on trial and appellate work, and representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  A 1983 cum laude graduate of Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, Mr. Adams has served that institution as an Adjunct Professor since his graduation, teaching in the areas of legal writing, appellate practice, advanced torts, problems in Georgia tort law, conflict of laws, and law office management.  He was editor of Mercer Law Review’s 1981-1982 Annual Survey of Georgia Law, and has also written many articles for Mercer Law Review and other publications.  He has served as Editor in Chief of the Georgia State Bar Journal, and Chairman of the State Bar’s Committee on Publications.   He is a member of the Author’s Court of the State Bar of Georgia; Mercer Law School’s Brainerd Currie Honor Society; and has been the recipient of Mercer Law School’s Meritorious Service Award. 

Mr. Adams has written, revised, or edited many legal treatises, including Georgia Law of Torts and Georgia Law of Torts—Preparation for Trial, both published by West.  Since 1985, along with Cynthia Trimboli Adams, he has been responsible for the majority of the updates to Brown’s Georgia Forms, also published by West.  He participated in revising many volumes of the Encyclopedia of Georgia Law for The Harrison Company, a predecessor of West.  He has been Editor in Chief of the Journal of Southern Legal History since 1996, and was a member of the Georgia Code Revision Commission from 2000-2004.  He is currently serving as a member of the Centennial Commission of the Georgia Court of Appeals, and is overseeing preparation of the Court’s official centennial history.

Georgia Law of Torts was first published in 1989, and has been updated yearly since that time.  Beginning in 1996, it has been issued in an annual softbound edition.
