Hu Lovein has a varied business and litigation background, including experience in the fields of medical malpractice defense, worker's compensation defense, product liability defense, insurance policy defense, creditor's rights and bankruptcy litigation, construction litigation and employment law from management's perspective. He has considerable experience in litigation involving non-compete covenants and has handled major cases involving long-term timberland management contracts and mining leases. Lovein has also tried several will contests and will and trust construction cases, and has defended fiduciaries against claims of breach of fiduciary duty.

A majority of Lovein's practice today consists of complex business and commercial litigation in the above and other areas, general corporate and business advice, and complex will, trust and guardianship litigation.

Lovein is a native of Macon and has practiced law with the firm, where he is a partner, for over 30 years.

He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.

His Bar activities include past service on the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia and its Advisory Committee on Legislation, and past service as a trustee of the Client Security Fund, a Special Master for State Disciplinary Board proceedings, a member of the State Bar Fee Arbitration Panel, and past president of the Macon Bar Association. In addition to the State Bar of Georgia, Lovein is a member of the Federal Bar Association and is a Fellow of the Georgia Bar Foundation and a Barrister in the W. A. Bootle American Inn of Court. Lovein has also served as a panelist/instructor for local and statewide ICLE seminars. He is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Georgia, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the U. S. Supreme Court.

Lovein has also been active in local civic endeavors, having served as president, board member and attorney for the Museum of Arts and Sciences, president of the Macon Rotary Club, board member and attorney for the Chamber of Commerce, and president of its Downtown Council, general counsel for The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, board member of Idle Hour Golf & Country Club, and president and secretary of the Macon Alumni Association of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. In addition to SAE, Lovein is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Delta Phi, and Gridiron Secret Society.
