Tommy Day Wilcox |
Tommy Day Wilcox is a former judge of the Superior Courts of the Macon Judicial Circuit, serving from 1981 to 2006 when he assumed Senior status. Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Wilcox practiced with the Macon firm of James & Wilcox from 1973 to 1981 handling a wide range of litigation matters. During the private practice of law, Judge Wilcox was appointed to represent a defendant in a federal criminal case which went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States (citation). While serving as Judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit, Judge Wilcox spearheaded the establishment of a "Special Drug Court" for persons arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. This experimental project was designed to develop a Special Drug Court prototype for the Courts in the State of Georgia and continues in the Macon Judicial Circuit to the present date. |
